Help

  • Vistalizator is an unofficial tool - don't call Microsoft for support :-)
  • This program is still under development, please be patient if it doesn't work for you right now
  • In case of problems to start up Windows after language change, please have Windows installation DVD ready and use System Restore to restore registry

Please write your system configuration:

  • Version of Vistalizator: always use the latest version
  • Operating system: Windows Vista or Windows 7
  • Windows edition: Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business/Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate
  • Windows architecture: 32-bit or 64-bit
  • Service Pack 1 or 2: installed or not
  • Original Windows display language
  • Language(s) you are trying to install
  • The installation mode used for installing a language: Internal or Express (see details)

To find out your system properties, go to Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> System.
Or right-click the Computer icon in Start menu and select Properties.

Issues when using a language installed in Internal mode

Internal languages are installed by the integrated Windows language pack installer.
Some Windows updates that affect multiple languages have to be reinstalled.

Windows Update does not work or its Control Panel item remains untranslated.
Reinstall Windows Update Agent, this will update new Internal languages.

Windows Search 4.0 (KB940157) is automatically installed via Windows Update on Vista SP1.
Some items in Windows Explorer and Indexing options in Control Panel remain untranslated.
Reinstall Windows Search 4.0, this will update new Internal languages.

Issues when using a language installed in Express mode

The point is that these languages truly installed by Vistalizator are not updated by Windows.
Some updates that affect multiple languages have to be installed within Vistalizator.

Windows Update does not work or its Control Panel item is blank or untranslated.
1. install Windows Update Agent within Vistalizator, this will update new Express languages.
2. If that doesn't fix the issue, reinstalling Windows Update Agent usually helps: run the installer directly.
3. Finally, you can try a workaround:

  • Run Vistalizator - revert to the original Windows language
  • Use Windows Update, restart system if requested
  • Change back your desired display language

Windows Search 4.0 (KB940157) is automatically installed via Windows Update on Vista SP1.
This update of the integrated search engine in Vista is causing a few troubles:

  • Some Control Panel items fail to open
  • When you right-click the desktop and try to select Personalize, it fails to open
  • There is some missing information and blank column headers in Windows Explorer

Install Windows Search 4.0 within Vistalizator, this will update new Express languages.
